Antique Jasperware Mythological Vase, Neptune, Nude Man & Woman. Rarely can you find a Volkstedt piece, this three-dimensional and in such fine condition! A lovely Antique Art Nouveau Jasperware Vase. Dating from the late 19th/early 20th century, this impeccable vase features a mythological design with Neptune, God of the Sea, a nude woman emerging from a sea shell and a man falling to kiss her. It is signed on the bottom with a sunburst design in blue with Germany spelled below it and 3 separate numbers, 7, 17, 7541. The vase is large for Jasperware at 9 1/2″ high x 8 1/2″ wide 7 1/2 wide opposite shell holding woman, and is glazed inside. The Neptune Vase is in very good overall condition. No chips, cracks, scratches, or other issues are present. The only things to note are from when it is was made, a tiny shrink line in the bisque, and some easy to miss dark specks under the glaze on the bottom of the inside of the vase. This is one of the most lovely examples of the Art Nouveau movement I’ve come across. This large (and functional) piece could easily become the focal point of your jasperware collection!
