From the first quarter of the 18th century a large proportion of German pewter was made in rococo, then neo-classical, followed by Empire styles. The forms most suited to rococo were candlesticks, sauceboats, teapots, coffee pots and tureens. Most of these were of fine quality metal and workmanship, and the rococo style continued until the end of the 18th century, long after it was considered to be fashionable (1725 to 1760). The rococo style was never used by English pewterers; the Dutch and French used it sparingly. Only the Germans experimented with this style to any large degree. The eagle touchmark on this fine soup tureen suggests it comes from Villingen, Federal Republic of Germany. Covered soup tureens in the rococo style such as this, are extremely rare and are coveted by serious pewter collectors. Because they were costly, few were made. As a two piece set, far fewer survived intact for hundreds of years. This fine example is a large soup tureen with vertical lobing, measuring 14 ½ ” in width (from the outer edge of each handle) and 12″ in height. The base opening of the tureen measures 10 ½” by 7 ½”, and is engraved with the owner’s inials “GSK” and the date “1723”. The bottom of the base contains three oval maker’s marks (unidentified), the center mark containing an eagle and the numbers “2 3″. The quality of the metal is exceptional and the soup tureen weighs a full 7 pounds. There is a solder repair, as shown in the photos. This tureen holds a full gallon, and I believe it might be a “presentation piece”, adding greatly to its value.

Fine old HOPF violin around 1st half 1800 – stamped on the upper back. Please listen to the video/soundfile & scroll down to see all detailed XXL photos below as part of the description! Nicely carved scroll and accurately inlaid purfling. The table is medium to fine grained spruce and the back, as well as ribs and neck, is nicely flamed maple. The light-weighted instrument has been checked by our luthiers and by our violin player on playability. In our workshop it received new setup with newly fitted elder ebony pegs, newly fitted elder tailpiece and chinrest, a new bridge, new soundpost and new strings. Good old German violin in immediate playing condition! Total 59 cm / 23.2″, body 35 cm / 13.8″, vibrating chord length 33 cm / 12.99, weight 417 gr / 14.74 oz. Starting these at a low price for this true piece of history so it finds a great home. With all jewelry with stones, stones sizes and amounts are figured by calculation. (for an accurate total, you would have to remove the stones from the settings) During measurements there is some degree of calculation, so it is an approximation. In regards to our time pieces watches, clocks etc. We verify the condition when they leave our office and will be stated as working or not working. All working watches may still need to be professionally cleaned/serviced in order to keep time accurately. Each of our time pieces are vintage and used to a different degree. Rare Vintage Hand Carved Wood Hand Puppet Punch & Judy, Guignol German Puppets. Very Rare Antique German Punch And Judy Wooden Hand Puppets – Made In Germany. Unsure of age, definitely early 1900s.. Up for sale are these 9 antique Punch & Judy Hand Puppets with wooden handmade heads, made in Saxony/Germany. They are old and used and comes wear. Some of the heads have come off, needs tightening, stitching at the neckline of the dresses. Marks, paint loss and faded and holes especially in the old man’s dress. The puppets heads are hand carved of solid wood and hand painted in original colors. Hands and Legs/Feet are material. The puppets cotton clothes are all original but faded, dirty and worn with age. The puppets are in their original state, please refer to pictures. The measurements of the puppets are about 25cm. A wonderful gift for someone. Please note that all the Toys are vintage and as such have been used and loved, and comes wear. They are not perfect. I hope they will go to a home where they will continue to be loved. The dolls shown are the ones you will receive. I’m also including the hand made wooden box that these have been stored in. Box size 23cm long x 13.5cm wide x 15cm high.

Here is an Absolutely Gorgeous & Very Rare Large Antique circa Early 1900’s German Chromolithograph (color lithograph) titled “Medieval Handwritings”, as appears hand written in pencil lower right in the outer margin corner. The Chromolitho depicts several different aspects of Medieval writing/hand illumination, ornate decorative borders etc, like the example in the upper left which is the beginning of the first Psalm in the Bible’Beatus vir qui non’ and the example lower right of the Middle-high German lyricist & poet’Walther von der Vogelweide’ c. 1230 from the Codex Manesse (Medieval poetry songbook, 1304). The Chromolitho also features gold & silver metallic inks which were used in the original printing of the piece in certain sections of 3 out of the 5 image plates, and gum Arabic was also applied to highlight certain other inks and areas in some of the image plates as well-simply beautiful! The publisher’s printed monogram logo of intertwining letters appears lower right in the outer margin corner but I can’t quite make it out’G. Printed in Germany’, as appears stamped lower right in the outer margin corner. The inventory number’K. , appears printed upper left in the outer margin area. The Chromolitho is on a lighter-medium weight cream-colored wove paper stock, and is in Fair-Good Rare+ condition for its antique age with Absolutely No Color Fade-Wonderful Rich & Vibrant Color! The sheet size with margins is 26.25″ x 34-7/8″. There are two light horizontal creases that go from side-to-side across the middle-upper section of the chromolitho and have caused very slight ink cracking (mostly in the upper left plate), from being put back into its standup drawer incorrectly a long time ago, but will flatten fairly well & not be overly noticeable hopefully, once the piece is either drymounted flat or hinged to an archival backing stock and framed up under glass. Other slight small crescent-creasing and straight creases here & there over the entire sheet, and in the outer margin corners and slightly more pronounced creasing along the outer margin edges (mostly upper edge), but are negligible in the outer margins since they can easily be trimmed off or matted & framed out. There are only four (under ½ and less) tiny outer margin edge tears along the outer margin edges, and none come anywhere even close to the image area and are completely negligible as well, and they are all repaired from behind with archival tape for protection & strength. Some edge wear with some dents & dings here & there-also negligible. Light toning of stock from age, but isn’t noticeable at all in the image plate areas. Slight topical soiling from age (lightly grubby) in the outer margin areas from being in a drawer this whole time amongst other prints & etchings, but isn’t noticeable at all in the image areas. This beautiful & rare antique German chromolitho has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.
