He had it professionally restored and has been on display only since then. The lantern has NEVER BEEN lit it up and it is untested. There maybe be a few imperfections, but over all this lantern is a 9 out of 10 with the restoration job that was done. NOTE New information from another experienced German fellow collector in regards to the markings on the globe. This globe seems to me, that it marked like a “Presentation” lantern more regularly seen for the conductor presentation lanterns. “Klempter-MEISTER” (mstr) Friedrich Guenther. Pretty cool piece of history. The globe is more than rare to have survived all these years with this lantern. The Wick Burner – Thumb Wheel was manufactured by Thiel & Bardenheuer of Rhula in Thüringen. Thiel & Bardenheuer also produced wick burners for Hermann Nier. The factory – village where this lantern was produced in and around 1900 was on the school road in Leuben – Niedersedlitz. The old postcard above in the photo gallery shows the buildings. THE LANTERN IS UNTESTED. IT MAY HAVE IMPERFECTIONS. IT HAS ONLY BEEN USED FOR DISPLAY. This is a pre war/war lantern that shows its age. This is not a new lantern.
