For sale is this wonderful, early 20th century Ge rm an folk art antique white and cobalt blue enamel painted tin hanging wall salt box, featuring a carved half-round wooden lid and stylized Gothic iconography with the word’Salt’ emblazoned on its front sidewall with black enamel paint. The enamel surfaces are largely free of oxidation but there’s one slight glaze’bruise’ located on the top left of the salt box’s body, a nick in the enamel under the stenciled word’Salt’ and some minor spots of oxidation along its rolled base. The top of the white tin salt box also has a rolled tin edge and is painted in cobalt blue enamel paint. The carved half-round wooden lid is without any fractures, wood loss or unsightly and depreciating flea-bites along its edge. The inside is close to pristine, with little if any oxidation occurring. The piece has a scalloped tin upper decorative wall hanging flange with a pre-drilled hole for a metal wall fastener. It’s stamped’Made in Ger ma ny’ on the base in blue ink. A great period, early 20th century, pre-WWII, Ge rm an folk art antique tin hanging salt box. When you need but a’pinch’ of salt, this by your side hanging from the wall in your 21st century contemporary kitchen, may just do the trick. Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
